Communications Test > Wireless R&D and Conformance Test > 6401 AIME/CT ISHO
GSM/GPRS-UMTS Handover The complete deployment for the next or 3rd generation of network technology will take many years to occur. As roll-out commences, 3G services and networks will be available in localized areas only. The capability to seamlessly operate between existing 2/2.5G networks and the localized 3G networks will be key to success. The 6401 AIME/CT ISHO provides the capability to run the GSM/GPRS/UMTS protocol conformance test cases, as defined in 3GPP TS 34.123 and TS 51.010. The system combines the well-established 6103 GPRS AIME with the new 6401 AIME/CT, providing an upgrade path for existing customers. The system is available in two configurations: one UMTS cell/two GSM/GPRS cells or three UMTS cells/three GSM/GPRS cells. An upgrade from the first configuration is available. To simplify test set-up, a single, direct RF connection to the mobile is provided, and the entire system is controlled from a standard Windows 2000 PC, connected to the system via Ethernet. Easy test selection and automated test execution facilities are provided, as are comprehensive logging facilities. Captured logs can be exported to HTML format, retaining message decode capability. A comprehensive range of 3GPP-compliant, GCF-approved test cases is planned, covering all current and future circuit-switched and packet-switched tests. For development testing, complex dual-RAT network
scenarios can be emulated, allowing the behaviour
of the mobile to be examined under controlled
conditions. The system is programmed using C++
scripts, with a range of samples supplied covering
typical cell selection/re-selection and inter-system
handover scenarios. The highly modular design
meets the demands of next generation testing and
protects the user against evolving test requirements
and future technology developments.
